Nearly everyone was gathered in the dinner hall for the evening meal H’ton sat at the top table with Talia at his side. He didn’t look over at her. He sat with one hand over a clenched fist, he know everyone in the Weyr know about the decision Talia had made and that he was not happy about it. That was most likely why people had been avoiding him or quickly leaving the room when he came in. No one wanted to attract the Weyrleaders attention and feel the sharp end of his bad temper.

S’ren sat at one of the long table’s in the dinner hall, he could see their Wyerleader did not look happy.
Timov came in walking to S’rens table “ Can i join you?” she asked the brown rider. It had been a long day.
“Yeah” S’ren said moving along “Our Weyrleader look’s like he’s in a good mood, maybe Talia should change his feed” he said knowing Timov would know where that was coming from.
Timov looked round to look at the top table “Change his feed, i think he’s still sow over not making her change her mind” she said

Talia was sat picking at her food, she chanced a glance at H’ton who was not even looking at her. Why was he still sulking with her. Talia scanned the room for Rio. She was the only one who was a defiantly going to be going to Top Point it just left seeing who out of the other two gold riders. Talia really whished Rio was her she wouldn’t mind talking to the young Gold rider

K’ttak walked in to the dinner hall it was noisy in here to night and that was both a good thing and a bad as most of the talk was about the weyrleader’s fight over letting Top Point take two Gold’s. K’ttak was stuck in the middle as he had known Talia for turns, before ether had even become dragon riders. As K’ttaks fathers hold was bound to Benden but bordered Talia’s parents and K’ttak had seen Talia from when she was very small and had grown up with her older brother as a friend and as her friend he understood where she was coming from, but as Weyrling Master he understood where H’ton was coming from as it was his weyr to and they had to run it together, not one making a decision over the other. K’ttak made his way through the dinner hall the weyrlings where proving be an extremely bright group even Timov’s son, though he did wish the lad would not keep comparing dragons with hold beast as it lead to a great debate. Though K’ttak had to admit his greatest pride and joy had to be Rio with her Gold Aerith who was of phenomenal size at only 2 turn’s and was flying with her rider and going between. K’ttak had been worried at first with the dragon growing that fast, but Rio showed she was well capable of controlling the Gold. She also constantly wanted to sit in on the other weyrling lessons with the other’s and K’ttak let her as she had to learn to look after her own dragon and it meant the others did not holder in a bad light as it showed that she was not stuck up. Which none of the gold riders where, but the young Weyrlings where still to learn that. He spotting Timov and S’ren and went to join them. “Evening he said before joining them”

H’ton took a sip of his wine this was going to be a long meal. He wanted as many people assembled for what he was going to say, as H’ton wished to put a stop to any ill informed rumours that may start, because of him and Talia fighting. H’ton glanced over the growing number of rider’s spotting K’ttak make his way over to a table. The middle aged Weyrling Master was never hard to spot, not because of his limp but by his hair, unlike most Pern’s who had ether dark or light coloured hair he had, he had red hair not a common thing. H’ton wondered who’s side the Weyrling Master was taking on this, most likely Talia’s. Well it would not matter as after the main meal was over he would say his bit call his Wing Leaders and K’ttak, he wanted to know himself how well Rio was flying and then he would send for the for the for Rio and Ryoko the one he had chose to go and take over as Weyrwomen at Top Point.
-----------
B’hamut entered the dinner hall, he had just finished getting the smell of firestone out of his cloth’s and hair and re-spiked it. He looked round for a place to sit, he wanted to sit quickly to before H’ton saw him, he had felt some what under the glow of a very large set of glows the last few days, because of the news of the loss of the Top Point Queen and that East Cliff was sending two of its queens there and a lot odd question about the weyr and how they only got the bad eggs of all the weyr’s. this made B’hamut very insecure, he didn’t like being put on the spot and questioned about his old Weyr and asked constantly “What had he done to be sent there” he had done nothing to get sent there, he had been rescued, searched and taken to the weyr and other than that East Cliff was the only weyr he had stayed long term in. B’hamut had taken to ether staying in his weyr or hiding in the record room, though he had given up on that hiding place as the little pest Zi kept coming and finding him and talking to him when he didn’t want to talk to her.

Timov moved up making room for K’ttak beside her “Yes join us” she said to him
S’ren raised an eye brow he remembered when those two would not even speak to each other, let alone sit at the same table, but that had changed after Timov’s Green’s flight. Now S’ren felt like the third weal in the group, he would move but there was no where else for him to sit.
As he looked round he saw B’hamut eagerly looking for a place to sit, putting his fingers between his teeth he gave a sharp whistle to grab the young bronze riders attention, but it earned a good few others attention to not only for S’ren but for B’hamut to. “over here” he said
Timov looked at S’ren disapprovingly “Did you have to do that” she said she had just been about to ask K’ttak about how the lessons where going

"Are you excited?" Desimae linked arms with Ryoko as the women strode down the hallway towards the Dining Hall. Both had just finished giving their dragons baths and thus were smelling of sweetsand and oil, dressed in leathers with their hair pulled back.
"Are you kidding me? Of course I'm excited!" They both laughed. "I can't wait to start managing my own place. And you know Jizeth is just as excited. She hates to take orders from others." Yoko rolled her eyes in jest, and smiled at her friend. "What about you? Have you made your decision yet?"
Dezzy smiled and squeezed her friend's arm. "You know you can't leave me behind. My only problem will be telling Talia and H'ton. Do you think they'll let me go?" A worried expression caused the hazel eyes to darken as they regarded the Junior Weyrwoman.
"H'ton might, if I ask him specifically." Ryoko patted the older woman's arm in reassurance. "I'm sure he won't mind. Faranth knows I'll have a troop of Bronzes behind me." This caused another round of laughter right as they walked through the doorway, and the wondering looks of some riders made the giggles come even harder. It took a moment for either to settle down, and they parted with reluctance. "We'll talk more of this, I promise."
Desimae walked away from the younger woman who was making her way towards the higher tables. Rank still held sway in this part of the Weyr. Gathering a plate from one of the passing drudges, Dezzy moved towards a table just past S'ren's. She smiled as she passed them, however, and waved to B'hamut while setting her food on the table.

H’ton looked up when he hard someone whistle and say like most others in the hall who’s attention it was meant to grab.
---------------
B’hamut wanted a large hole to appear in the dinner hall floor and swallow him up. Why did S’ren have to do that? B’hamut sometimes wondered who he had the least tolerance for S’ren or that little pest Zi. B’hamut quickly made his way over to the seat wanting to get sat down and have people stop looking at him. As he walked past S’ren he muttered “thanks everyone is looking at me now” he said making his way to sit with Desimae as her table was just that bit out of sight, but he could still talk to S’ren, Timov and K’ttack if he wanted to. He sat down and kept his head low “hi” he said to said to Desimae “Ryoko all packed” Dragons gossiped with the best of them and with fire lizards about most know who was going to Top Point Weyr

K'ttak sat down at the table he was just about to say some thing to Timov, ether a compliment or some thing but S'ren's sharp whistle had cut his train ofthought short
Talia glanced up seeing who had madethe noise, she had to hide a laugh when she saw it was S'ren, he reminded her a lot of her brother E'lric, she didnt look over at H'ton she know his thoughts on that. How ever she as she watched B'hamut move over to the seat, she felt verysorry for him, he had been under a lot of scrutiny this last seven day and she know a lot of it not his fault.

Ryoko wound her way through the tables, smiling to everyone and nodding in recognition of those she knew personally. Upon reaching the Weyrleader's table, she curtsied. "Good evening H'ton, Talia. Might I join you?"
"Good evening." Dee signaled for another drudge to bring a plate of food over and the greenrider granted the young female with a smile as she set the plate beside B'hamut. "Thank you." The drudge nodded and moved away while the returned her attention to the male across from her. "Are you kidding me? Ryoko's been packed for a sevenday!" Desimae laughed- she had helped, after all. "Name's Desimae, by the way. Dee or Dezzy for short." Taking a sip of her juice, she allowed for there to be a brief pause while she swallowed. "I'm not going to ask why you're here, you look like you've heard that enough already. So instead- how long have you been here?"

H’ton gave a nod for Ryoko to join them. He was keeping quiet for the moment considering the words he was going to say.
“B'hamut” He said introducing himself. “Thanks I’ve had enough of that question to last me a good turn. I’ve been here about half a turn and no one seamed to bother me till the Top Point Queen died and now East Cliff is sending two new one’s. all i can say id for Ryoko and Rio to pack warm it’s cold up there, bone cold” he said

"Thank you." Ryoko took her place on the other side of H'ton- the question she had would have to be aimed at him more than Talia in any case. She signaled for the same drudge that had just left Dezzy's table and the young girl placed an identical plate in front of the Junior Weyrwoman. "I take it you are doing well, H'ton?"
She grinned, but winced at the mention of cold. "Shard it all. I was hoping for warmer weather. Ah well, I guess that's why they call it Top Point, right?" She took a few bites of her food before posing her next question. "Were you always at Top Point, or did you transfer from somewhere else?"

“Pretty much, i came from a beast hold near Keroon Hold. A rider found me on search, well say found me stopped me getting beaten up more like and i got taken to Top Point, Sephiroth came from the second clutch ever laid at the weyr” B’hamut said as it was one of the things he liked to take some pride in. He know it was not as good as being first but he hadn’t even got a look in at the first hatching and he was just to pleased he impressed the second time round.
H’ton nodded his head “As well as can be expected” he said in a droll tone

Talia looked over at Ryoko, she didn’t know why but when another, women started getting to close to H’ton she always seamed to get this deep desire to put herself between H’ton and the other women. It was stupid really, she know, H’ton did not have interest in other women, but it did not stop other women having interest in him. Though she was a little bit more displeased at the man’s attitude, he could try and be a bit friendlier. She decided to be friendly to Ryoko since H’ton was still in the huff “Are you all packed Ryoko?” She asked “I have heard it’s very cold at Top Point. If you get to cold please don’t be frightened to come back down here and see us” she said

"That's good to hear." The man really didn't understand he was making this even more difficult by being so...so...untalkative. So it was with great relief that Ryoko answered Talia's inquiry. "Yes, thank you. I look forward to returning for visits. I would like Top Point and East Cliff to be up to date on each other as much as possible. Plus, I'm sure I'll need to warm up once in awhile if its as cold as they say."
Dee nodded and slipped a piece of tuber into her mouth, chewing and swallowing quietly as she listened. "Keroon's a nice place. I was born and raised in Nabol. My brother J'kol was the officially Searched Candidate, but the bluerider didn't want us left behind." She smiled at the memory. "J'kol Impressed within a few sevendays, but I was left standing for a Turn before Vireth found me. We transfered here a turn ago."

S’ren gave a sheepish grin “Sorry, but you know how B’hamut is, unless you throw something at him he doesn’t notice you” S’ren said trying to still look like he was sorry
“Oh now that is being unkind that” Timov said looking behind her to see B’hamut since S’ren had said who he was trying to signal to join them. Part of her was very happy that B’hamut went to join a young lady over on the next table, it showed he was coming out of his shell a bit and not just sticking to people he know. It was a good sign.
S’ren watched him pass “You’re welcome” he muttered the lad needed to get a sense of humour.
Rio quickly entered the Dinner Hall making her way up to the top table, she never liked sitting there she always felt like everyone was looking at her. She passed Timov’s table and then noticed that there was one missing form the usual group, she looked quickly around seeing B’hamut sitting with Desimae. She didn’t know why it bothered her, he never said much anyway, when she joined that group for midday meal. Rio realised she was standing still to long and know she had to say something to warrant her standing there so long. “Evening Timov, K’ttack, S’ren” she said hoping they would not have noticed.
Timov looked round and greeted Rio with a smile “Evening Rio, how are you? All packed for the move? B’hamut said to pack warm, it can get very cold up there” she asked know it was a big step for the young gold rider.
Rio nodded her head “I well, yes I’m all packet, the head women gave me several thick warm jumpers to wear, but i don’t think it is going to be as cold as he make’s out” she said a touch of disbelief in her tone.
S’ren raised an eyebrow, he know who that kind of talk reminded him off and that pear where sitting together now. S’ren decided to test the water on this “I don’t know, B’hamut lived there for nearly 7 turns before coming here, so he would know” he said waiting for her reaction.
Rio just looked at S’ren “well I’ve packed warm ether way. Anyway not like we don’t wear warm stuff here like they do down south, we face out on to the Eastern sea and this close to the coast it is always cold”
Timov looked at S’ren what was going on here.
S’ren noticed Rio’s voice went up a pitch as she talked a sign that she was getting frustrated. “You don’t know, B’hamut might enter the flights and be Weyrleader” he said
Rio really wanted to say something there to shout S’ren up, but she could not risk losing her temper.
Timov gave S’ren a look to tell him to shout up “You better get up to the top table dear, before the meals done. Come back and talk to us later” she said more to get her away for S’ren
“Yes…sorry… I’ll let use get back to your meal” Rio said making her way to the top table. Rio preferred the seat next to Talia, she was always a bit more friendlily than H’ton. But from what she could see as she approached, maybe Ryoko may have preferred that seat. Rio gave a bow to the weyrleaders “Good evening” she said then took her seat. She only sat a moment when a drudge placed a plate of food before her, she was glad it was heard beast and not fish as it had been for dinner and the evening meal before.
When Rio was well sat at the top table Timov turned on S’ren “What in the name of the fist egg are you playing at? Are you deliberately trying to wind people up, when the tension is already at breaking point?” She hissed
“No…but you know she was over here looking for B’hamut. My mark is she like’s him.” S’ren said
“Don’t be silly, no she doesn’t, she hasn’t liked him since he beat her brother up” Timov said to S’ren
S’ren held a finger up “Ah you think thank that, but he only hit him because her brother played that nasty trick and she was not to happy about that was she?” S’ren said “Any way she says she does not like her brother?”
“Blood is thicker than water. I say i don’t like my brothers but id someone did something to one of them i would not be happy and you’re the same and there is ample proof Rio does not like B’hamut” Timov said to the brown rider.
“Where and when then?” S’ren asked
Timov turned to K’ttak “Kit back me up here and convince this dead glow that Rio does not like B’hamut”

H’ton was fully aware he was getting talked past and that it would not be looked to well upon but at the moment, H’ton did not know what else he could say on this matter. The decision had been made for him and he was expected to go along with it, even if he did not like it, so since the meal has started he had said nothing to anyone and this had worked fine till the arrivel of the junior queen riders. Who ever decided that they had to sit on ether side of the Weyrleaders needed their head shoving in a watch wher’s mouth, as it was proving to be the biggest problem, next to threads falling out of pattern, as H’ton not talking was causing Talia to send him dirty looks. Oh he would just have to swallow it whole and engage in a conversation. “When you get there if there is anything you need, just send word back to us and we will try and be of some help” he said to Ryoke.
B’hamut ate some of his food, he cleared his mouth before speaking also, and “I hated growing up there” B’hamut said eating a tuber before he went on “I never had an interest in beasts really, not even dragons or fire lizards. Don’t repeat that to Sephiroth and Shinra please” He said this had to be the first time he had just sat down and just talked to someone in a long time. “My father was always shouting at me because of it, mind i think he always shouted i cant remember him even just talking to me or my mum or sister. Mind they shouted at me to, surprised I’m not deaf” He said for the first time laughing at how ridicules his life before the weyr had been. “I wanted to go to the Harper hall and learn to be a healer or copy the records” He said knowing Dee would think his silly, what lad and lass had not dreamed of being found on search and getting to bond with a dragon or their little relations the fire lizards, well he hadn’t, he would have been happy to be left with records and plants. “Did you always hope you would be found on search and be come a rider?” He asked

“Well we cover much the same territory” Talia said smiling when H’ton joined in the conversation. Talia greeted Rio with a warm smile though noticed the young women did not look happy. “Evening Rio, how are you?” She asked. K’ttak had stayed relatively out of this letting Timov growl at S’ren, he like it when she growled at someone other than him. “Timov’s right S’ren, Rio and B’hamut don’t like each other. I talked B’hamut to come and help me with doing Aerith training jumps between, as i have found that younger riders take the instruction best off a rider close to their own age and i thought like you did that they liked each other and also since it’s a gold doing her first outing a bronze escort never goes wrong. Till i put those two together. From the moment B’hamut landed on Sephiroth she did nothing but hiss like a tunnel snake at him and kept telling Aerith to ignore Sephiroth’s instructions. Dornth kept a running commentary for me as Aerith kept complaining about her rider. I felt heartily sorry for the two dragons and B’hamut In the end i think poor B’hamut gave up, he got Sephiroth to bespeak Dornth and tell me he would see me back at the weyr. Don’t know where he went to, never ask him” K’ttak said looking over at B’hamut. Really he didn’t care where B’hamut had gone, where ever he had gone it was somewhere he felt happy. Mind K’ttak was amazed at B’hamut going to sit with another rider he didn’t know, it had took Timov yanking the young rider out of his dark corner to get him to come join them.

"I appreciate it, but there is one more request that I must ask of you." The teal eyes shifted towards Desimae but her attention quickly returned to the plate of food before them. What would she do if she was refused? Transfering to her own Weyr was all well and good if she had a familiar face beside her- what if Dezzy was too valuable here? She half-expected him to say no right off the bat.
"Faranth, no. The most I could hope for was a solid meal." The greenrider fully understood the dislike for both dragons and firelizards. They had never represented anything but a good whipping if she had mentioned them. "I never even knew what a dragon was before my tenth birthday. One of the Holdbrats had impressed a firelizard and the Headwoman told me that dragons were just much bigger versions. I got my first look at fifteen when a bluerider took us to Southern." A piece of fruit was popped into her mouth, quickly followed by a piece of tuber.

H’ton turned to look at Ryoko “Tell us and we will see what we can do. I do not mind sending some additional riders to help, though you will have plenty of help from the weyr” H’ton said looking over at Talia. “From what i have heard they are eager for you to come”.
“It sounds like you had a worse growing up than i did” B’hamut said eating some of the meat. “did you impress down in Southern with your brother?” B’hamut asked thinking to try and change the topic a bit
