Rio walked along the corridor, sure a few of the kids had said this was the way to the Harpers quarters.

<“Thank you”> Rio said as she made her way along finding the quarters.
Rio knocked on the door frame “Hello is any one here” She called into the quarters.

Zaira had just returned from a lesson and was putting her gitar carefully away in her bedroom when she heard someone call out for her. "I am coming, won't be a moment," she replied, quickly wrapping the instrument in a piece of cloth, and closing the cupboard. She gave her hair a few quick run-throughs with her fingers, hoping it did not look to dishevelled and then made her way to the door, wondering who wished to speak with her.
"Hello, I don't think we've met have we? I am Zaira." She extended her hand to the goldrider, trying to remeber her name from the drills she had sat in upon recently.

Rio waited near the door when she hared the voice from inside.
She gave a warm smile when the Harper greeted her, “No i don’t think we have met…I’m Riobhne Gold rider of Aerith, but everyone just calls me Rio…” She said taking the hand
“I’ve… well” Rio wasn’t sure how to ask this with out sounding like a dead glow. “I’ve come to ask for a favour… could you teach me how to play an musical instrument?” she asked. Rio had had her basic Harper lessons but sea holds tended to want hands more for working than playing instruments and little time was spared to teach and learn an instrument properly and then Rio had been sent to the weyr and with all the other work she had never found a chance to learn an instrument and she had heard talk that a lot of Top Point riders and people played instruments.

Zaira nodded as she replied to Rio's request. "Why of course. Did you have a particular one in mind? Or shall we decide now?" Zaira ushered the rider into her set of rooms and indicated a chair for the gold rider to sit upon. The Harper pulled one up for herself across from Rio, tucking her left leg under her right. "How much experience do you have with playing instruments? Have you played any before?" Zaira realised she was barraging the poor girl with questions but they were all imperative to determine what their lessons may entail.
She was secretly pleased that Rio had sought her out. As it was she was already giving Kisa lessons, to have both gold riders under her tutelage gave her a certain satisfaction that she would never admit to anyone but herself.

Rio entered the Harpers quarters taking the chair she was offered. Rio went a bit red when Zaira asked her all these question. “I haven’t really had much experience with an instrument. Before i went to the weyr i was at a sea Hold. If you’ve ever talked to any Harpers who have been to a sea Hold they will tell you that the Holder does not give people much time to sit and learn how to play an instrument and fishing is hard on the hands” Rio said putting her hands out for Zaira to see. They were not as bad as men who spent their days at see, but they were not unscathed Rio had a few marks where her hand had been marked off the work with a fishing net and line and she was just starting to get her hands soft again off the sea water.
“My hands are a bit ruff Aerith is always complaining when i touch her hide” Rio said giving a bit of a sheepish smile.
“I know all my Harper teachings and did try to learn the flute…but my brother, throw it in the sea…” Rio mumbled the last bit she didn’t like thinking about her brothers as it reminded her how nasty she had been to B’hamut… she remembered hearing him play his wooded type of recorder she could only think it was at East Cliff, it had a nice sound to it.

"I am sorry to hear that, it's a shame you never had much of a chance to learn" Zaira said as she thought over what the other woman had told her, the word flute most prominent in her thoughts. "Would you be willing to try the pipes perhaps? They are within a similar family and have a nice sound to them, relatively easy to learn also, given you may not have that much time with the duties required of you?"

“hmm” was all Rio could say as she know how crewel her brothers had been to her over the turns, with their nasty little tricks and though she had got even with them over time sometimes it was not to the same level as they had hurt her. Like her brothers actions at Aerith hatching and how they had left more lasting harm.
“Yes the pipes would be good and like you say they would be easier to learn in the time i would have free and i can still remember bit from when i played the flute” Rio said happy that she may still be able to learn to play and this time not have the flute thrown in the sea.
