Name:
N'bula
Gender:
Male
Age:
42
Weyr:
Top Point
Rank:
Wingrider/ Searchrider
Height:
6'8"
Hair colour:
Chocolate-brown
Eye colour:
Blue
Appearance:
N'bula is very tall, his height reaching an impressive 6'8", and he towers over almost everyone. Broad shoulders, and overall a fairly powerful appearance, had he not Impressed he would have turned to Smithcraft. His hair is a mop of rich, chocolately brown, with only the barest hint of a few gray strands near the temples. They add a bit of a debonair, dashing look to him, and really don't make him appear old at all. His eyes match Roanth's hide almost perfectly in hue, though are thrown off by only a small bit of green in the center. His skin is darkly tanned, as much of his spare time is spent on beaches or in sunny locations.
There is one very odd thing about him, and it is one that draws many odd looks, and is the subject of much discussion. A large majority of his body is covered in ink that has been basically tattooed onto his skin by using needlethorns and ink, and depicts an in depth and detailed history of his home Weyr, East Cliff, from founding to present day. The only parts of his body untouched are fairly sensitive areas, his left cheek, forehead, right arm, and the very center of his back. These will be filled in as more happens in the Weyr, and his arm will be dedicated to his newer home, Top Point Weyr. The process of this was excruciatingly painful, and he refuses to explain to anyone exactly how he discovered the idea, or why he does it.
Personality:
N'bula is a very stoic person on the outside. He may offer you a nod of greeting if he likes you, or perhaps a slight wave, but to expect much more only leads to disappointment. This stoic, quiet, almost anti-social exterior is simply a way to keep anyone who'd be bothersome away. Once you get past it you'll find a genuinely cheery guy, who enjoys spending a few quiet hours with Roanth on some secluded beach in the middle of nowhere. He hates to be bored, and has a quick mind, often bickering playfully with his Blue just to have something to do.
This is one rider who is truely dedicated to the Weyr, and for him it is everything. The very thought that someday Weyrs may not be needed hurts him physically, and to see any Weyr failing makes his blood boil. A short temper is a downfall for N'bula, and often he'll go storming about the Weyr muttering to himself, ,or threatening to rip someone or other to shreds with his bare hands (he hasn't tried this yet, but a few people do think he could) senselessly. He tends to calm down after some time of ranting to himself, or taking a mini-vacation with Roanth, and resumes his stoic self.
His passion for the Weyr also means that when he and Roanth are on a search, they take nothing but the best. If Roanth or N'bula have even the slightest of doubts, they'll leave a potential candidate. Oddly, almost everyone the do search ends up Impressing within three hatching, if not their first.
History:
N'bula was born of East Cliff Weyr, and until the age of seven he lived there with his parents. A Bronzerider and a Greenrider were his sire and dam, and it seemed a shock when both simply vanished, Betweening without any explanation or warning. A part of N'bula thought it was his fault at the time, and still does, but he knows there is nothing he can do about it. He Impressed Roanth, much to his delight, at sixteen, right about the time he was ready to give up on Impressing ever.
They excelled in their weyrling classes, and while accompanying another Blue on a search, Roanth went frantic as they were preparing to leave a Hold, refusing to leave until one young girl was brought along. When the girl stood on the sands, she Impressed the first time, and the very first Green to hatch. From then on, they were considered highly for Searching, and at thirty-four he moved to Top Cliff, though he'll willing Search for either Weyr when needed.
Companions:
Xyn (pronounced Sin) the Bronze: Xyn leans to the large size for a flit, and his coloring is rather bright. Very playful and well trained, he follows Roanth everywhere, even where he really isn't supposed to. He does tend to boss other flits around though, and he'll chase off anyone he doesn't like when they come around either N'bula or Roanth.
Other:
Dragon
Colour:
Blue
Name:
Roanth
Turns:
26
Personality:
Roanth is a very calm, very easy going dragon, who takes pride in Searching, and if anyone tries to stop him from going on one he'll become almost violent. He adore flits, and though he has one little friend, he beleives they need another ten. Flits seem to like him as well, and when he's at the Weyr they tend to be seen either in the water, with the Blue getting a nice scrub, or napping on a ledge.
Appearance:
Roanth is a little odd in his coloring, as it varies slightly from a plain blue shade. His wings and paws to the knees are much darker, almost a navy shade, while his body is a lovely shade that matches the ocean on a clear, calm day. His head and drizzled along his spine is a very light hue, and while he is very attractive, his coloring, like his rider's own appearance, does draw attention. He is average sized, though his wings tend to be a little longer than average.
