East Cliff
East Cliff is set in the East part of Pern (naturally) atop a large bank of cliffs that lead down into a valley. This weyr is built right into the cliffs and uses the naturally created caverns to house the people who live here. The Weyr also has 3 mountain peaks which the Weyr uses to tell the time; it takes Rukbat a whole day to move from the first peak to the last.
East Cliff was founded 90 Turns ago after a rock slide rumbled down the cliff. A large part of the rockface fell away to reveal a set of hollow caverns which, upon exploration, proved to be an excellent site for dragon and human habitation. With Benden's population growing to overcrowding, this natural occurrence provided an unexpected relief.
A team of Miners and riders were sent in to excavate and hollow out the caves to make them the size they needed. During construction, the team accidentally started a cave in and a large shelf of rock fell away into the sea, although this made an ideal area for a docking cave for boats.
After nearly a Turn of work, East Cliff started to take form; now was time for the Smiths. The crew laid the pipes for the water and those which created the heat for the hatching sands, and then constructed their star stone with the help of the Harpers.
East Cliff was declared liveable and several teams of riders were chosen to act as original colonists. The weyr also enlisted the help of the Fishing Hall- with them being so close to the sea they thought to make the best of this and used it to strengthen the bond with the Halls and help set up the nearby Dolphin Hall.

Top Point
Located on the Northern continent, right above Benden and East Cliff. It is not holiday spot, and if an outsider arrives here, they do not recieve a warm welcome seeing as most do not come by choice.
Top Point was started eight Turns ago by a group of Old Riders, and a Turn before the pass of the Red Star. The older riders found some of their younger counterparts were lacking in the qualities depicted in so many of the dragon ballods, and strove to change this. The younger riders had raided Holds and Halls for beasts and Candidates, setting the Holds and Halls against the Weyrs.
To make matters worse for their peers, the young riders kept timing it. This made catching them hard and frustrating, especially with more than one dragon refusing to do the same. Things came to a head when the events led to a devastating accident.
Another group of riders decided to put a stop to all of this mischief as they felt it was giving the rest of them a bad name and reputation. Which, undoubtedly, it was. The Holds no longer revered dragonkind as they once had. Rather, they now despised it. Knowing that dragons would never be able to disobey a queen, a headstrong rider and her young Gold were put into place to demand that these riders cease and desist. All the plans seemed to be in good working order seeing as a flitt was being used to track the renegade riders. Everything would have worked if one bluerider had not been a double crosser.
When the goldrider and her group came out of between to catch the miscreants in the act, his blue collided with the young gold and two bronzes, a blue and brown.
In a tangle of wings the six fell, the two bronzes trying desperately to help their queen, but only the brown managed to break free as the others fell to the valley below. The dragons disappeared between as soon as they hit the ground. The death of the riders was felt all over Pern, and the dragons remained a sickly shade of grey for some time. This drew a great number of attention, and the accused riders were brought to task.
But this left all the Weyrs with a problem; what could they do to stop this happening again?
A team of riders had already been up in the high North, collecting ice for use in the Holds when they discovered a valley that would make a good site for a Weyr. It was so sharding cold, however, that it was dismissed and only mentioned as a joke for somewhere for someone to go cool off. It returned to discussions as a serious topic after the loss of the young dragons and plans were made to turn the valley into a usable Weyr. It was going to be used as a punishment and an area for those riders who had committed crimes.
The plans finally took form when a team of old riders was selected to guide the mission. The hope was that, with the guidance of their elders, the misfits would drop their hazardous habits. The pair which chose to lead the mission consisted of Palin and Gold Wikranth and their weyrmates F'hursna and Bronze Yadrath. Several more experienced browns, blues, and greens followed after the old Weyrleaders. If anyone could make this place work, it would be those four. Under their watch were the renegade riders and those which had committed previous crimes of such a nature. Thus their mission began; to make the next generation of riders something Pern could rely on.
Wikranth's first order was to ban the previous habit of timing it. Any rider who ignored the order was going to be dropped between and left there. Everything had gone without hitch until a few sevendays ago. With Wikranth being so old and so unaccustomed to the cold weather, her Flights didn't last long enough for her to be able to produce a Queen egg. Two young golds from East Cliff are being sent in hopes of keeping the Weyr alive.
